Just discovered by a group of divers in the Caribbean near Playa del Carmen, the world’s longest underground river to connect two cave systems. The waterway is said to be at least 95 miles long.
“It’s a bit of the Star Trek syndrome: the thrill of exploration, to go where no one has gone before,” said diver Steve Bogaerts, who helped find the underground river.
The Yucatan Peninsula is home to the magical fresh water cenotes and underground limestone caves that have fascinated divers and tourists for many years. I had a chance to go last year, and it was truly an amazing experience.

I recently came back from Akumal. It’s located in the middle of one of the finest regions for cave and cavern diving in the Yucatan. Most cenotes are located on private property so there is typically a small entrance fee. We spent an entire day snorkeling 6 different cenotes. The freshest of water!
