Seaside Hideaway: Cap Ferret, France20.06.07 |
Just a 45 minute drive from Bordeaux is a quiet seaside hideaway named Cap Ferret, not to be confused with St. Jean Cap Ferrat, which is located in the south of France. Unpretentious and downright cozy, Cap Ferret is a charming coastal getaway flourishing in quaint bed & breakfasts (hotel de charme) and culinary findings.
The Atlantic seafood forms the basis of many local specialties and the oysters and mussels are plentiful. In addition to the seafood, the 25 kilometer long beach along the Atlantic coast is the single largest and most natural stretch of sand dunes I have ever seen. Surfers and families alike, will fall in love with this quaint town at the bassin of Arcachon.
