Reopened in 1995 under Sultan of Brunei, the famous polo lounge restored, rooms enlarged, rejuvenated gardens within the 12-acre space, all worth an overhaul price tag of more than $100m.

With 203 guestrooms, including 38 suites and 21 bungalows, we find the bungalows scattered throughout the lush gardens to be most desirable. Each room is well equipped with several phones, fax machine (including a private number), stereo and 3 televisions, marble tiled bathrooms with dual sinks and ample space to enjoy their very own bath amenities.

The famed palm-lined pool is well run by its staff, as they are always at your service. The pool cabanas, our favorites are right in the center of it all numbers 6, 7, and 8 are offered at $225 per day and include exceptional service, flat-screen television, fax/phone/data lines, in-cabana dining, fiji water and fruit.

The Spa by La Prairie opened in 2003, with six treatment rooms, private cabanas and separate steam and sauna for men and women. The spa offers impeccable service and attention to La Prairie’s one of kind luxurious treatments. Although it is small, it is personalized.

Plans are underway to attract a younger hip crowd with the unveiling of The Sunset Bar due to open early 2007. The new lounge-like bar featuring a large outdoor patio will be replacing the Sunset Tea Room, located to left as you enter the lobby.
