With so many travel sites popping up on the internet, good information is just a click away. Here a are some interesting sites to check out before traveling.

Find historical flight data like price trends at Farecast.com – If you are flexible, Farecast can give you great information with easy to see graphs on when the best time buy your ticket will be.

Airline Information & Seating Reviews at SeatGuru.com – I have been on a flight from San Diego to London and used miles for First class and was so disappointed with my first leg on Continental from San Diego to Newark where the seats barely reclined and there was no media entertainment. I would not have wasted my miles if I checked the SeatGuru first, where they give great information on in-flight amenities, seating details and sections to be aware of.

Flight Delays at faa.gov – Ever checked for a flight delay before you left home only to find that there was one, but the airline didn’t release the information? Check out the Federal Aviation Administration site, where they report ALL flight-delay information since they are the air traffic control system command center.

Weather is the most accurate at NOAA.gov – Before you go anywhere always check NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration site for the most current and extended weather forecasts.

Does the word “Boutique Hotel” mystify you because you never know exactly what you will get? Have you ever traveled abroad and stayed in a hotel that did not fit the bill? Ever uncover a hotel that surprised the heck out of you with something spectacular, that made you revel with joy, as if somehow, you beat the system? Let’s face it, you are hard to please, and you expect the best.

To help determine if the hotel is a genuine find, take a look at the following factors and don’t be afraid to ask before you sign on. I find that calling ahead of time makes a world of difference, especially with the smaller properties that can often times be at full capacity when you arrive.

Room
1.	Size does matter. A good rule of thumb is 400 square feet with a bona fide sitting area.
2.	Room with a view. Nothing worse than finding out you are looking at a parking lot or situated above the nightclub.
3.	Sleep like a baby. Sheets and linens can really make you feel right at home, 300 thread count should be your minimum standard.
TIP – Find out which rooms are a staff favorite or what rooms have recently been refurbished and request ahead of time.

Food + Wine
1.	24-hour room service.
2.	Glance at the menus to make sure that there is creativity and local ingredients. Also, pay close attention to the wine list making sure that they have a nice selection in quantity and quality.
TIP – Check with the Restaurant manager for reservations and dress attire, often times the restaurant will have a special table or dining experience that is not to be missed.

Service
1.	Staff vs. Guest. A ratio of one to one is typical at most luxury properties. Anything above that and they are aiming to please.
TIP – When calling ahead ask to speak to the concierge about guest services. If they offer a wide range of programs from trainers to excursions and offer you valuable information, this is a good indication of their commitment to your comfort and satisfaction.

Location
1.	Many hotel finds can be found just outside the hustle and bustle. Intimacy can be a luxury, but can also be a drag if you want some action. Make sure to find out how far you are from other activities and restaurants, if you like to venture out.
TIP – Request a list of their recommended restaurants and activities with distances to and from in advance.

Next time you travel to another country, consider learning the language. It may not be as hard as you think. Whether it is brushing up, learning for the first time or you just want to show off to your multi-lingual friends, I highly recommend Rosetta Stone.

I am passing this along because I am truly amazed at the ease of the language program they have designed. I have tried the cd’s and nothing could be worse than listening to the same mundane voice over and over. I am not the only one giving this program high praise. Guess who else endorses this creative way to learn? US State Department, Fortune 500 executives and NASA to name a few.

Here is why it is so great – The program is a fully interactive instruction incorporating the four necessary skills needed to be fluent which are, listening, reading, speaking and writing. Some people learn visually, some by hearing and others through active involvement. With Dynamic Immersion, you think in the new language and quickly develop the skills and structures needed to communicate. With voices of native speakers, written text, thousands of real-life images and really neat tools like recording your own voice until you are satisfied with your accent. Available in 30 languages from $195

Purely Parisian.

The Citroen 2CV revival starts with a company named 4 roues sous 1 parapluie translating to ‘four wheels under one umbrella’, offers an exciting way to tour of Paris. Designed in 1948, the Citroen 2CV quickly became the French standard for many years until production of the cute icon ended in 1990. Due to the nature of the 2CV, it can pass through narrow roads, dodge traffic and make sharp turns ideal for a thrilling tour.

You can take a private ride (up to 3 passengers) in one of their cozy 2CV’s and discover Paris in a magical way. With a menu of escapes to choose from, English speaking chauffeurs and most importantly the 2CV has a convertible soft top roof giving you a fabulous view to enjoy all the sites.

Tours depart at set times of the day for 1.5 hours at about 79 Euro per person (based on two persons by 2CV) and 119 Euro for a 3 hour tour. You can choose from many themes like seeing the sites, to finding the best boutiques or design your own itinerary (they will do just about anything) for an additional 20 Euro for 1.5 hours and 30 Euro for 3 hours.

Every year during the holidays, we make the beautiful drive from our home in Southern California to visit family in Northern California. Along the way, we like to enjoy the scenery, crisp clean air, pine scented trees, gourmet food and of course, stop off to rest. Oh, did I mention we do this with our beloved dogs? Yep, we just could not bear to celebrate the holidays without them.

It has been difficult in the past to find hotels that accept pets that also fit our high standards of lodging. Choices for fabulous hotels that are pet friendly are out there, but they are often discreet about advertising to the public. Once you are there, you find pet lovers alike, coming back year after year, as they are extremely loyal to the hotel establishments of there choice. To ensure an enjoyable stay make sure you check with each hotel for a description of there pet policy. Here are a few of our favorite stops:
