Mr. and Mrs. Schliff will be checking into The Parker Palm Springs today. We’ll be mixing business with pleasure, as it is our 5-year anniversary (Congratulations to us, honey!).

I decided it was time to check out this Parker in the desert and see what all the fuss is about (btw, we love Le Parker Meridian in New York). During these hot summer months, they are offering a spendid deal called Spa Junkie where they give you a $200 spa credit per night (pure bliss if you ask me).

In anticipation of our arrival, I decided to watch, “Welcome To The Parker” last night on Bravo TV to get myself familiar with the happenings of the property. What I got was a lot of drama and an orchestrated “behind the scenes” look that wasn’t so pretty. I have to admit, it was a bit painful to watch. Sort of like a love-hate relationship, the characters, staff, prove to us that this is not your ordinary hotel. Are they redefining the hotel experience? No. Adding a new element? Yes, I believe so. After all, there is a whole new generation of travelers out there pushing the envelope and expecting a new level of hotel experience.

I just got to ask, what hotelier in there right mind would open their doors to let you see the inside? All in the name of entertainment? Is bad press the new good press?

In any event, I am looking forward to a very swanky, sexy, perhaps even relaxing weekend and I know they will deliver.
